This season is one of the new beginnings for the women's soccer program under new head coach Pablo Rodriguez.
The Lady knights began their season competing at the Starfire event held in Seattle. The weekend consisted of games against Pierce College and Edmonds College which would provide a good test for the Lady knights leading into league play.
After a solid opening day of play, the Knights locked up a 1-1 draw against Pierce College, in their first game. In the second outing the Edmonds College matchup was a contentious one. The Knights and Tritons were tied going into the break 1-1. The second half of the game started with a flurry of action. The Knights seemingly under constant pressure conceding a couple late goals. In the end, the Knights fell 4 -1. Overall, the Starfire Friendly's were a strong showing for the Knights leaving the weekend with a 0 -1-1 record.
Sophomores Gennevieve, Aliyah and Jasmine led the team during their successful matches. The Knights competed with two great teams and scored goals in each game. The Knights have possessed a lead in each outing. The team has great potential to be competitive this season. Since the team's first scrimmage the young Knights seem to be adjusting to the physicality of the college level game. The team's chemistry has increased significantly, as well. You can see it in their "shots on goal" statistics. The Knights seem to be finding their identity as a team earlier than expected. They are a fun group to watch. Freshman Yameli Lopez, Emilee Swanson and Emma Warman have stepped up big for the Knights. They will play key roles in the team's success this season. The Knights open East Region play against the Columbia Basin College Hawks, on September 9th, in Pasco, Washington
