In just a year, under the design of second-year head coach Maria Adams, the Knights went from a conference record of 3-13 (and finishing second to last in the East Region) to finishing second under North Idaho with a record of 13-3. This record lead them to the NWAC Regional Playoffs for the first time in the Knights Program. This completed the full 180 program turn around.
The Knights broke many records like longest winning streaks, most wins in a season (total record of 22-11 for the 2023 season), making it to Regional Playoffs, being on the Top 10 Coach's Poll the longest, and finishing the highest they have in a very long time. All of these achievements were not won easily.
From the beginning to the end of the season, the Knights had one goal in mind, to make it the farthest this program has every made it. Looking back at everything they have achieved, one could say they have accomplished this goal and more. The Knights ended the season withÂ
Brooklyn Worsham making the All-Region 1st Team with teammates
Poliana Lazarini and
Ashlynn Grasseth making the All-Region 2nd Team.Â
Paola Gonzalez-Lleorda made the All-Region 3rd Team Honors as well.Â
"We only grew as a program, a team, and a family this season. They pushed one another to be better on and off the court. It was a chemistry unlike any other I have experienced in my years of coaching. The flow of the game was not something that could be stopped once it got started and that was amazing to watch," Coach Adams said. "Looking at where we were last year to where we are this year, only winning 4 total games, to winning 22 and 13 of them were conference is a huge step in the right direction for where I see this program going. Being an Alumni of WVC who went through this program myself, I knew coming into this position as Head Coach I wanted to make a program that me and every Alumni, Staff, Community Member, and future Knight could be proud of. It has a really good foundation and I am excited to see what we build from this year on."
